More information
In recent decades, Germany and its export-orientated economy have benefited greatly from open and rule-based global trade. However, the geopolitical situation and thus the global economic conditions have changed dramatically in recent years. Politics is increasingly intervening in the globalised world economy, with far-reaching consequences for trade as well as the availability of energy and raw materials. In addition, there are structural crises in Germany that are leading to a decline in industrial production.
How can Germany and Europe maintain their innovative strength and competitiveness in the face of these challenges? These and other current geopolitical and geo-economic issues will be discussed by representatives from science, politics and business.
The symposium is an initiative of the Leopoldina focus group ‘Climate and Energy’ under the direction of Ferdi Schüth ML and Robert Schlögl ML and is financially supported by the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation.
