Infectious diseases represent one of the major burden in public health in India and Germany. In India Malaria, Tuberculosis and other infectious diseases are of major importance. In Germany, especially nosocomial infections, virus infections and also fungal infections are of importance. An increasing number of infectious agents develop resistance against antimicrobial substances. This is true for all kinds of infectious agents, viruses, bacteria, fungi and protozoa. Therefore, the strategies used by microbes to develop resistance against antimicrobial substances should be analyzed during the meeting. Furthermore, new approaches in order to combat infectious diseases will be discussed.
