“When a National Academy of Sciences in and for the Federal Republic of Germany was finally founded, it was the fulfilment of a long-held aspiration. It was now possible for us as an important science nation to be effectively represented in the circle of national academies. Congratulations to the Leopoldina, as well as the affiliated Union of German Academies and acatech, for 10 years of consequential work; this sentiment includes with it the hope for your “good fortune” in the coming years, in which more rather than less scientific advice will be in ever-greater demand.”

Prof. Dr. Günter Stock

President of ALLEA - All European Academies and the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (2006-2015)
