“The promise of science is an objective approach to our world. The result of this is progress but there is also a corresponding responsibility to promote an exchange of ideas about the capabilities and limits of this progress with the society at large. The work being done by the Leopoldina is therefore of inestimable value. It unites leading scientists under one roof and merges their perspectives into a strong and credible voice in the public dialogue. I would like to congratulate the Leopoldina on its 10th anniversary as the German National Academy of Sciences and am delighted that so many members of the Max Planck Society are among its membership.”

Prof. Dr. Martin Stratmann

President of the Max Planck Society and member of the Senate of the Leopoldina

As a member of the Leopoldina´s Senate, the president of the Max Planck Society is involved in the Academy's decision-making process. Within the framework of the Alliance of Science Organizations in Germany the Max Planck Society and the Leopoldina collaborate on position statements and recommendations.
