Gerhard Vollmer ist Physiker und Philosoph. Er hat auf beiden Gebieten gearbeitet und promoviert, lehrt aber seit 1975 Philosophie, vor allem Wissenschaftstheorie, Naturphilosophie und Künstliche Intelligenz. Bekannt ist er durch seine Arbeit über „Evolutionäre Erkenntnistheorie“. Er vertritt einen evolutionären Naturalismus, wonach es überall in der Welt mit rechten Dingen zugeht, und deshalb auch eine evolutionäre Ethik.

Gerhard Vollmer is both physicist and philosopher. He received PhDs in both disciplines and has worked in both areas, but since 1975 he has taught philosophy, mainly philosophy of science, philosophy of nature and artificial intelligence. He is well-known for his work on “Evolutionary Epistemology”. His position is evolutionary naturalism, according to which there is nothing transnatural anywhere in our world, and therefore also an evolutionary ethics.
