Research

He specialises in the molecular biology of heat shock proteins, being among the first to identify and isolate them and to recognise their role in the DNA replication. Together with his students, he has demonstrated that these proteins are also involved in the protection of proteins of other types, dissociation of oligomers and protein aggregates, and proteolysis. Since 2000, he is investigating the role of heat shock proteins in the cell transformation showing that tumour suppressor protein p53 require heat shock proteins for its transcriptional activity.
