Research

Wolfgang Künzel ist seit 2002 Professor em. der Frauenklinik der Justus-Liebig Universität Giessen. Er war in folgenden nationalen und internationalen Positionen tätig: 1991-1997 Chairman of the Standing FIGO Committee on perinatal health, 1994-1996 Präsident der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Gynäkologie und Geburtshilfe, 1999-2002 Präsident des European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Seine Forschung konzentrierte sich auf Uterusdurchblutung und fetale Oxygenation, fetale Herzfrequenz und das fetale Schocksyndrom. Später galt sein Interesse der Qualitätssicherung in der geburtshilflichen Versorgung und der gynäkologischen Qualitätssicherung in Hessen. Er publizierte 30 Bücher und 290 Arbeiten in wissenschaftlichen Journalen. Von 2002 bis 2009 war er Co-Editor in Chief des European Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Reproductive Biology. Sein derzeitiges Interesse gilt der Qualitätssicherung der geburtshilflichen Versorgung in Kaduna and Kano State, Nigeria in Zusammenarbeit mit der lokalen Regierung.

Wolfgang Künzel is an Emeritus Professor and Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology University Giessen, Germany since 2002. He held beside others the following positions: 1991-1997 Chairman of the Standing FIGO Committee on perinatal health, 1994-1996 President of the German Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 1999-2002 President of the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. His research is focused on uterine blood flow and fetal oxygenation, fetal heart rate and fetal shock syndrome and on Quality assurance in Obstetrics and Gynaecology State of Hesse, Germany. He published 30 Books and 290 papers in scientific journal. From 2002-2009 he was Co-Editor in Chief of the European Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Reproductive Biology. His present interest is focussed on quality assurance of obstetrical service in Kano and Kaduna, Nigeria in collaboration with the local Government.
