The “Neuroscience” symposium series, regularly organised by the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the Israel Academy of Sciences, serves as a Israeli-German exchange platform for experts from the fields of neuroscience and life sciences. There, they present their current research and discuss global research trends in their fields of activity. This year’s symposium will focus, inter alia, on cognition, perception, memory, neurodegenerative diseases and brain research.
At a Round Table with Israeli and German research funding organisations, funding and cooperation opportunities in neurosciences will be presented and new research horizons will be identified. Participants will also outline global developments in the respective scientific field.
This year’s programme was scientifically coordinated by the Leopoldina members Arthur Konnerth ML (TU Munich), Peter Riederer ML (University Hospital Wurzburg) and Ad Aertsen ML (Bernstein Centre Freiburg) as well as by their Israeli counterparts Yadin Dudai (Weizmann Institute of Science) and Asya Rolls (Technion – Israel Institute of Technology). The German Neuroscience Society kindly support the participation of German and international early-career researchers.
The German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities cooperate closely in a strategic partnership since 2013. The Memorandum of Understanding between the two National Academies will be renewed in the opening of the symposium.
The event is open to everyone interested. Participation is free of charge. The symposium will be held in English. Registration is mandatory.
