Research

Manfred Curbach is one of the leading figures in the development of Textile Reinforced Concrete (TRC). From 1999 to 2011 Curbach was Speaker of the Collaborative Research Center 528 "Textile Reinforcement for Structural Strengthening and Repair" of the German research foundation DFG. In this research program, a new composite material textile reinforced concrete was developed. It is made of high strength concrete and high-performance fibers, for example carbon, and has been explored and transferred into the first pilot projects in cooperation with companies from the construction industry.

Since summer 2011, Manfred Curbach is speaker of the DFG priority program 1542 "Light Building with Concrete", which has taken the goal to realize the principle of "form follows force" in concrete as well as to save resources. Other research focuses on the material behavior of concrete under multiaxial loading and at high strain.
