Working Groups

Future Energy Systems

Sustainability, financial viability, security of supply and social acceptance: With these goals on their agenda, the initiative “Energy Systems of the Future”, supported by the German Academy of Science and Engineering acatech, the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the Union of German Academies of Sciences, is accompanying the energy revolution in Germany.

With a second project phase, the science academies are continuing the joint initiative under the leadership of acatech. In interdisciplinary working groups, around 100 experts develop options for action to pave the way for an environmentally friendly, secure and affordable energy supply.

Mode of Operation and Dialogue Formats

Statements from this academy project appear in the joint publication "Series of Publications on Scientific Policy Advice". The positions of involved parties from politics, science, business and civil society are collected in various dialogue formats and subsequently evaluated scientifically. The aim is to point out alternative paths for the implementation of the energy revolution.

Structure

The project members are representatives of university, non-university and industrial research. A five-member board of directors manages the project and represents the project in external relations. The statements compiled in the project are approved by the board of trustees. This committee is composed of representatives of the academies, the German scientific community and guests from the political realm.
