Forschung

Dr. Peter C. Scriba serves currently as Chairman of the Scientific Council , Bundesärztekammer (since 2002) and as President of the Scientific Council of IQM (Initiative Qualitätsmedizin). He was a member of the Editorial Board of Deutsche med. Wochenschrift (1982-2010), and member of the Advisory Council for the Concerted Action in Health Care (1993-2007; Vice-Chairman since 2002). He is professor emeritus, Chair of Internal Medicine, University of Munich and former Director of the Medizinische Klinik, Klinikum Innenstadt, Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich. From 1980-1990 Dr. Scriba was professor of Internal Medicine, and Director of the Department of Internal Medicine, Medical University of Lübeck, where he also served from 1987-1989 as Rector of the University of Lübeck.

Dr. Scriba was trained in Biochemistry working with Professor Holzer, University of Freiburg, and as Research Fellow with Dr. Reddy and Prof. Thorn at Harvard Medical School, Boston, US (1962/1963). Until 1968 he was Resident at Medizinische Klinik, Klinikum Innenstadt, University of Munich, working with Profs. Bodechtel and Buchborn. From 1985-1994 he served as Executive Committee Member and Chairman of POC (1994) of the European Federation of Endocrine Societies. He is author of more than 800 publications mainly in the field of Endocrinology. Special interests are development of hormone assays, mechanism of action of hormones, endocrine diseases, iodine deficiency, teaching of endocrinology, and recently research policy, and medical economic policy.
