Epigenetics: Playing with the Game of Life

Mehr zu 'Epigenetics: Playing with the Game of Life'

Symposium of the Heart Centre, University Hospital Halle (Saale)

Datum: Freitag, 13. bis Sonntag, 15. September 2019
Ort: Konzerthalle Ulrichskirche – Concert hall Ulrichs Church, Christian-Wolff-Straße 2, 06108 Halle (Saale)

Aging is an unavoidable part of life, characterized by a progressive decline in function and an increased risk of mortality. In model systems, we have learned a lot about the mechanisms of aging and are able to modify health as well as lifespan by genetic, pharmacological or lifestyle interventions. Accumulated evidence links aging to epigenetic alterations with a high impact of the environment or the nutrition on health-span and diseases. Given the reversible nature of epigenetic mechanisms, these pathways provide promising avenues for therapeutics against age-related decline and disease. It will be the aim in the future to transfer such results to humans.

The purpose of this meeting is to discuss aging as a modifiable risk factor of diseases, to promote greater communication among the world-wide community of individuals engaged in aging research and to invite young students to join this field of research.

The congress is the 9th international meeting on aging in Halle (Saale). It comprises invited talks and poster sessions. There are no concurrent sessions.

The symposium is co-sponsored by the Leopoldina.
