Forschung

Steffen Gay hat mit über 300 Peer-referierten Arbeiten auf dem Gebiet der Rheumatologie wichtige Beiträge zu den molekularen und zellulären Mechanismen der Rheumatoiden Arthritis und der systemischen progressiven Sklerose (Sklerodermie) publiziert. Nach 20jähriger Tätigkeit an der University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), wo er über 10 Jahre als Professor of Medicine arbeitete, kam er 1996 nach Zurich. Das vom ihm geleitete Zentrum für Experimentelle Rheumatologie wurde von der EULAR zum “Center of Excellence“ ernannt.

Molekularbiologische Untersuchungen rheumatologischer und kardio-vaskulärer Erkrankungen, die durch Acetylierung, Methylierung und microRNAs epigenetisch dysreguliert sind, stehen im Mittelpunkt.
